Weighty Issues

How often do you weigh yourself? If you're female then there's a 1 in 3 chance it's every week.  Not so often if you are male. While 18-24s weigh themselves more often than 25-34s:

Of course, the more you have weight issues the more likely it is that you will weigh yourself more often. One in 10 Irish adults define themselves as 'very overweight', again females are more likely than males to so define themselves. But clearly age is a more significant factor:

Perhaps it's the time of year, but a quarter of adults are on a diet, including 30% of those aged 18-24:

Sure enough, those who weigh themselves more frequently, and those who consider themselves overweight, are more likely to be on a diet:

Of course, we need to be careful about the direction of causality: being on a diet doesn't necessarily cause you to be overweight!
