The 50/50 Future

The latest CSO population forecasts have just been published - here.

We have just started a new research programme called 'The 50/50 Future' which looks at the business and policy implications of a future in which Ireland's over 50s make up more than half of the adult population.

As the chart shows, under different scenarios for migration (fertility doesn't have an impact) the share of 50-somethings crosses the halfway line sometime in the next 15-18 years:
