With the introduction of GDPR just months away, nearly 6 in 10 Irish adults are aware of it - according to our most recent SmartPoll:
This compares to just 35% of UK citizens aware of GDPR ina similar poll.
But awareness is not evenly distributed, a majority of 18-34s are unaware of GDPR at present.
Nevertheless, the issue of data privacy and trust is going to get much bigger over the course of 2018. The same SmartPoll shows that most people trust their GP, pharmacist and bank with their personal data - Google and Facebook not so much:
