Economic Recovery, Emotional Recession?

We started tracking the monthly mood of the nation nine years ago back in April 2009.

A lot has happened since, including a recent surge in improving economic wellbeing as measured by our Economic Recovery Index.

But something else has happened: for some reason the emotional mood of the nation has deteriorated even as the economic situation has improved.

Perhaps the former lags the latter - it was a deep and unpleasant recession for many after all - but it must be a long lag if that is the case.

You can download an excel file with 9 years worth of monthly tracking data here.
