Robert Mooney - Research Director

Robert is a sociologist and a mathematician with over 15 years’ experience in applied social research.

Throughout his career he has held various roles as a Principal Investigator and Programme Manager at leading Irish research institutions including UCC, Trinity, Teagasc, and UCD on projects including European Framework (FP6, FP7, H2020), the European Fundamental Rights Agency (FRA), Eurofound, and Eurostat in Europe, and the Environmental Protections Agency (EPA), the National Disability Authority (NDA), and the Higher Education Authority (HEA) in Ireland.

His subject matter knowledge, project experience and publications include: methodologies in the social sciences, social policy, food, labour relations, health, citizenship and human rights, migrants and ethnicity, the environment and sustainability, child research and cognitive sociology.

He is an external Research Fellow of UCD, a member of the European Survey Research Association, the Sociological Association of Ireland, and the Health Informatics Society of Ireland.

He holds an MA in Sociology from UCC and a BA in Sociology and Mathematics from UCD.
